The success criteria of the advanced tracheal intubation training model are mainly used to assess the operational proficiency and accuracy of trainees in airway management. Before operation, the structural integrity of the model, the patency of the airway and whether the connections of each component are normal should be checked.
At the beginning of the training, the operator should strictly adhere to the aseptic principle and correctly select the appropriate laryngoscope and intubation specifications. Successful tracheal intubation first requires the correct intubation path, with the catheter smoothly passing through the glottis into the trachea, at an appropriate depth and position, and not mistakenly entering the esophagus.
Secondly, after intubation, position confirmation should be carried out immediately. The effectiveness of ventilation can be verified by observing the rise and fall of the thorax, the symmetry of breathing sounds in both lungs, and monitoring the carbon dioxide waveform, etc. During the intubation process, the movements should be gentle and prompt. The operation time is generally no more than 30 seconds to avoid airway injury.
In addition, the feedback system of the simulation manikin should show unobstructed ventilation, good airbag sealing, and no obvious air leakage. After the training is completed, the operator needs to correctly remove the tube and clean the model to restore its initial state.
Only when the operation is standardized, the positioning is accurate, the ventilation is effective, and the model feedback is good can the tracheal intubation training be determined to be successful.
