The operation steps of the pediatric nasogastric tube model are mainly used to train medical staff to master standardized nasogastric feeding techniques in a safe environment.
First of all, the operator should maintain good hand hygiene and prepare the necessary items, including nasogastric tubes, lubricants, syringes, fixing tapes and feeding liquids.
Secondly, place the child model in an appropriate position, usually in a semi-sitting or lateral position, to reduce the risk of aspiration. Subsequently, select a nasogastric tube of the appropriate specification, measure the insertion length, and make marks from the tip of the nose to the earlobe and then to the xiphoid process. Before intubation, apply lubricant to the front end of the catheter. Gently insert it through one nostril and slowly advance along the nasal cavity. The movement should be gentle to avoid injury. After reaching the predetermined depth, the correct position of the catheter should be confirmed by aspirating the gastric contents or injecting a small amount of air and auscultation of the stomach.
After confirming that there are no errors, fix the catheter to the nostrils or cheeks, and then connect the syringe or infusion device for feeding. After the operation is completed, pay attention to observing whether there is choking or liquid overflow. Clean up in time after feeding to keep the model clean.
