The step-by-step process of the transparent catheterization model

The transparent catheterization model is a commonly used clinical nursing skills training device, which can visually display the urethral structure and the entire catheterization process, helping trainees master standardized operations. The steps and process are as follows

First, prepare the necessary items, including urinary catheters, sterile gloves, disinfectant, lubricant and urine collection containers, and emphasize the aseptic principle to the trainees.

Secondly, perform hand hygiene and wear sterile gloves, place the model in an appropriate position and expose the urethral opening.

Thirdly, use a sterile cotton ball dipped in the disinfectant to disinfect in a circular motion from the urethral opening outward, repeating this three times to keep the local area clean.

Fourth, apply lubricant to the front end of the urinary catheter, gently insert it into the urethral opening, and slowly push it along the urethra until urine flows out, indicating a successful catheterization.

Fifth, fix the urinary catheter in the appropriate position, connect it to the urine bag, keep it unobstructed, and avoid folding or compression.

Finally, organize the operating environment, record relevant information, and clean and maintain the model to ensure the smooth progress of the next training.
